Foods to try in Hongkong.
I've been to HK many times (probably8-9times) but definitely not as regular as Laiman.. haha we decided to eat all the recommended foods in Hongkong and I shall list them out!
Haven't try them all, but most of them!
Photos are taken by me, otherwise stated.
1. Australian Dairy Co.
47 Parkes St, Hong Kong
MTR: JORDAN STATION
My first time there was with my colleagues was in Janurary, and when we saw the queue we were quite reluctant to queue! Long queue spotted even when I just exited frm MTR. but thank god the queue moves very fast orelse we will be freezing outside.
This is too overrated but I admit the scramble eggs with toast is good. I
Macaroni was slightly above average. Can be better if the soup is HOT but it came warm. :(
Waiting time for the food is short but the service is BLEH. Hate their service.
2. YEE SHUN DAIRY CO.
G/F., 506 Lockhard Road, Causeway Bay,
Heard about YEE SHUN Dairy company too, somehow similar to Aust Dairy Co as they are popular for their steamed eggwhite. Tried the one in Australian Dairy Co, and didn't really like it. Too sweet for my liking.
I didn't dine in Yee Shun before, so this is a photo found online.
3. TIM HO WAN
9-11 Fuk Wing Street
MTR: SHAM SHUI PO
- ok..I know everyone knows this place, but I love the one in HK! Haven't tried the one in sg though.
Mega love their bbq buns! My 5th time having them in Hongkong...................drooling over the bbq buns whenever I'm there.
4. SINMEI TEA 5/F, CS Tower, 50 Wing Lok Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong MTR: SHEUNG WAN If you like MATCHA, this is the place to go!!!! Their shop may be a little hard to find for 1st timers.. it's inside a office building and u gotta take a lift up!But definitely a place to go! Hidden gem hehe Had their Matcha Cheesecake & Matcha Soul tea. OMG Heaven. Not too sweet and so yummy! You need to ask the staff for their desserts availability because they dont display them out.
Matcha molten lava cake looks so yummy! (Pic from openrice.com)
Another matcha lover's place to go..... 5. VIA TOKYO Shop nos. 1A-1B, G/F., Leishun Court, 106-126 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay Personally did not try this....so the photos are taken online. BUT it's soooo tempting! 6. YI PIN HOTPOT G/F, 73 Chung On Street, Tsuen Wan MTR : TSUEN WAN My friend brought me to this place...at Tsuen Wan and he said it was a hotpot chicken and the queue is quite long when we went there. But the waiting time isn't long...we had seats when we went there and he said there's a few branches within Tsuen Wan itself. From openricec website, it is a finalist awarded restaurant! Can see from this website: http://www.openrice.com/english/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=51716&tc=sr1&con=phto
It was my first time eating this kind of hotpot... It is totally different from what I had eaten in Singapore. I thought it was just spicy soup chicken hotpot but it came like this...
So I was wondering where is the soup.. Hahaha
We are supposed to eat till 20-50% of chicken left, then add the clear base soup in. Where it becomes a spicy hotpot and we can order ingredients to add in.
We chose the medium spicy level but it's soooo spicy. This chicken is sooooo fat and the fats are really terrifying! Hahahhaa the chilli made my mouth sooo numb. the chicken is tender but I Had a hard time removing all the fats from the chicken. Lol.
We ordered mushrooms and this fried fish skin.. this is so damn good.
We had to dip in for 1-2secs and eat it instantly. YUMS!!
Worth trying.
47 Bute St, Hong Kong MTR: PRINCE EDWARD A typical 'cha can ting' but it's a good place to eat breakfast here and walk down to Mongkok for shopping!
their Bo Luo bun is soo good , the bowl of macaroni is better than the one I had in Australia Dairy Co in comparison with their soup, but their egg tart and their milk tea feels average to me.
Overall a good place to dine!
8. Capital Cafe
Shop B1, G/F, Kwong Sang Hong Building, 6 Heard Street
MTR: WAN CHAI
Another 'cha can ting' to try! They are famous for their scramble eggs with toast, and it definitely is.
A little tad oily but it's nice. I love anything with bread! Bread lover.
Their macaroni is quite yummy too. Did not try others but they seemed to have a lot of food in the menu! Saw a lot of photos taken in the restaurant when I was checking-in in my instagram :)
9. HESHEEATS Shop 4, G/F, Ngai Hing Mansion, 22 Pak Po Street, Mong Kok MTR: MONGKOK
A good place for chill-out after dinner! Many sweet treats that you wouldn't wanna miss out.
This place is hard to find but with GPS, we found it eventually!
Quite a lot of ppl ordered this as it was recommended!
We ordered this Matcha Ice cream with cinnamon apple dice and panna cotta.
Quite an interesting dessert and the combination is perfect! Never knew matcha ice cream goes well with cinnamon apple.
Thumbs up!
10. MIDOS CAFE
63 Temple St, Hong Kong
MTR: YAU MA TEI
Wanted to try this cafe since it was quite a hit but it was closed when we went there. Heard that it always close on random days? lol
Quite near to the hotel that we're staying in.
But didnt get to try them.
